How to Get Started in the Solana Meme Coin Ecosystem and Example of Swapping $SOL for $ZACK

Meme coins within the Solana ecosystem have seen explosive growth throughout most of 2024 and they show no indication of slowing down.  Many people believe we’re in the midst of a crypto meme coin super cycle on multiple blockchains including Bitcoin with Runes.  In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the initial steps of trading Solana meme coins, such as $ZACK, which have piqued the interest of traditional stock market investors.  Meme coins on Solana and other blockchains are onboarding the penny stock trading community as they start to realize the benefits of decentralization.  Stocks like GameStop ($GME) and AMC ($AMC) experienced explosive growth only to be halted when retail started winning.  Unlike stocks, crypto makes it possible for day traders to win as there are no centralized authorities ready to halt the market when it goes against the big institutions.

Start by Purchasing Solana on Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, or Any Centralized Crypto Exchange

Step one in the process of getting started in the Solana meme coin ecosystem is to purchase some $SOL.  The easiest way to do that is via a centralized exchange such as Coinbase or Kraken.  Simply create your account and buy some Solana.  I recommend starting small as it doesn’t take a large sum of $SOL to trade Solana meme coins.  Just 1 or 2 $SOL is a good place to start when entering the meme coin ecosystem.  Crypto meme coin trading is highly risky on Solana, Avalanche, Ethereum, Sei, Base, Sui, Fantom or any other blockchain so only start with what you’re able to lose.

Create a Web3 Phantom Wallet

Step two is to create a Phantom Wallet and transfer $SOL from your exchange to it.  Simply go to Phantom’s X account to get the link to the Phantom App.  You can install the Phantom wallet on Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or Edge browsers.  Phantom Wallet also has a mobile app when you’re ready to trade Solana meme coins on your phone.

Send Solana from Coinbase to your Phantom Wallet

Now that you’ve created a Phantom Wallet, the next step is to send Solana to it from Coinbase.  If you used a different centralized exchange to purchase your Solana, the process is still the same.  In your Phantom wallet, copy your Solana Receive Address.  Next, in your Coinbase account click on “Transfer” and then “Send Crypto”.  Simply paste your Phantom wallet Solana Receive address in, enter the amount of $SOL, and send.  Solana is a fast blockchain so the transfer of your $SOL from Coinbase to Phantom should only take a few seconds.

Discover Solana Meme Coins on Dex Screener

Now that your Phantom wallet has $SOL in it, you’re ready to begin trading Solana meme coins.  To do that, you’ll go to Dex Screener or Moby Screener which is where you’ll find the all the meme coins in the Solana ecosystem.  Important things to look at in addition to charts when analyzing Solana meme coins on Dex Screener include; market cap, liquidity, holder count, volume, and social sentiment.

In my opinion, a growing Holder Count and a strong Social Media (Twitter / X) presence are the two most important indicators for new Solana meme coins.  Promising Solana meme coin projects have positive sentiment on Twitter as well as an increasing number of unique on-chain holders.  A professional website that represents the project is a good thing as well.  A couple more Solana meme coin indicators I look at are; the number of Liquidity Providers (more = better) and tokenomics.  Make sure it’s a fairly launched Solana meme coin and that the insiders don’t control the vast majority of the supply.

Step-by-step Process of Swapping $SOL for $ZACK a Solana Ecosystem Meme Coin

In this example, we’re going to walk through the process from start to finish of buying $ZACK because it’s onboarded a large number of traditional stock traders into the Solana meme coin ecosystem so let’s get started…

After doing our analysis, we’re ready to buy the $ZACK Solana meme coin.  To start, we’ll need to Copy the $ZACK contract address on Dex Screener.  You’ll find the contract address next to the name of the coin.  For reference, the contract address (CA) for $ZACK looks like this: 8vCAUbxejdtaxn6jnX5uaQTyTZLmXALg9u1bvFCAjtx7

Once you’ve copied the meme coin address, open your Phantom wallet and click on Solana.  Next, click Swap and paste the contract address in the search bar.  In most case, the token you’re searching for will appear.  If it does not, then you’ll need to use a DEX (decentralized exchange) like Raydium or Jupiter which I’ll touch on it a minute.

In this example, $ZACK is available to swap within the Phantom wallet so we’ll go with that option.  Enter the amount of $SOL you want to swap for $ZACK and Phantom will show you the totals.  Finalize the swap of Solana for $ZACK by clicking Review Order and click “Swap”.  The transaction should take just seconds and the $ZACK token will appear in your Phantom wallet.

In some cases, new Solana meme coins will not be available to swap within Phantom Wallet so you will need to use a DEX.  Raydium and Jupiter are the top 2 Solana Decentralized Exchanges.  You’ll simply connect your wallet to Raydium and paste the $ZACK contract address in the “To” field.  99% of the time, the Solana meme token you’re looking to swap for will be available on Raydium and/or Jupiter.

Advance Solana Meme Coin Trading Setup
