The Sei ecosystem continues to expand faster than most all other layer-1 Cosmos blockchains to date.  Recently, the SEI V2 Public Devnet went live which allows developers to start building new applications on the worlds first parallelized EVM.  SEI V2 EVM (Ethereum virtual machine) is fully compatible with MetaMask which is important as it’s the native wallet for most ETH users.  The upgrade to public Devnet parallelized EVM unlocks the ability for ETH developers to seamlessly build on the Sei blockchain.  Sei V2 will attract top ETH developers and provide and an unmatched experience for its end users.  We’ll update this beginners guide to the Sei Ecosystem regularly as new protocols, marketplaces, and tools are built in 2024 and beyond.

Sei Wallets and Explorers

• Compass Wallet is a user-friendly Sei native Web3 wallet that is compatible with all the NFT marketplaces, DeFi protocols, and more.  There are other wallet options for the Sei network such as Fin and Keplr but Compass is our recommendation.
• MetaMask is working now with Sei V2 Public Devnet.  It’s the native Ethereum wallet and will make it easy for ETH users adopt Sei when V2 is live later in 2024.
• Seiscan is the main explorer for the Sei blockchain.

• ALIVE1111 – The first generative art NFT collection on Sei, ALIVE1111 is off to a grate start.  The project describes ALIVE1111  in the following way; “It’s an innovative digital art NFT collection created from each block hash from the SEI network from block 1-1111. This one-of-a-kind collection represents SEI Network Coming Alive and is a piece of SEI Network history”. The ALIVE BOT will enable users to enhance their favorite PFP in ways we’ve not yet seen in Web3.

Notable Mention Sei NFT Collections:

Outlines – The first animated art NFT project on the Sei network, Outlines has been gaining momentum since it’s mint in late January 2024.  It’s the first Sei collection to implement the burning of 2 NFTs to get a physical print of the Outlines art.  Finally, they’re also the first project host a weekly Twitter Space / X Spaces show called “Outlines Radio” where they spotlight other artists in crypto.

Fud Foxes – This Sei NFT project Started as a free mint and has consistently grown in holder count.  The Fud Foxes community don’t take themselves too serious and they like to have fun.  The Fud Foxes developer team continues to expand and they’re building useful tools for the entire Sei ecosystem.  They recently announced “Foxylend” which will be the first NFT based lending and borrowing protocol on Sei.  Foxylend protocol will allow users to lend, borrow, and earn collateral.  Keep a close eye on the Fud Foxes NFT collection in the coming months.

Yaka Voyager – The first DeFi NFT project providing liquidity Sei.  Yaka Voyager NFT holders receive a 3,000 $YAKA token airdrop.

Ghosty – Created by a strong team of developers, Ghosty Chat on Sei is a messaging platform for Web3 users to simply and instantly do wallet-to-wallet messaging on the blockchain.  Ghosty NFT holders also gain access to exclusive Sei Alpha groups.

e/acc – A collection of AI art pieces each hand prompted telling stories related to the past, present, and future of humanity.  The vision of the team behind e/acc is to help humans take control of their lives and achieve personal excellence.  The recently launched an AI powered incubator tool that already had a growing userbase.

How to Stake $SEI and Earn Yield:

You’ll find a bunch of traditional $SEI staking options on their official website here… app.sei.io/stake

Currently, there are 39 validators to chose from with a Bonded Tokens Ratio of over 99% which is crazy good.  The average APR for staking your $SEI tokens as of late February 2024 is 4.3% but that number will fluctuate as the blockchain grows.  The unbonding period for staked $SEI is 21 days.

SEI Liquid Staking:

Silo Stake aims to be the native liquid staking protocol on Sei.  Users stake their $SEI on Silo Stake and earn $iSEI in addition to the 4.3% APY they get for staked $SEI.  With liquid staking, you get the best of both worlds in that you earn yield on your staked $SEI tokens while still having liquidity via your iSEI tokens which you can use for anything you want.  Let’s say you stake 100 $SEI tokens on Silo Stake… seconds after staking you’ll receive 100 iSEI in your Compass wallet.  That iSEI will increase in number as long as your $SEI remains staked.  In addition, that staked Sei is earning 4.3% APY (fluctuates) and you’re free to take the 100 iSEI you received and use it on other Sei ecosystem dapps to increase the number!  So in theory, you can make more money with your iSEI while your SEI is staked and you’re earning yield.  The kicker is, if you ever want to un-stake your $SEI you need to have an equal or greater amount of $iSEI in your wallet at the time you unbond. Kryptonite is the first Sei native liquid staking protocol.  Their goal is to be the Lido + MakerDao + Uniswap of Sei. They’re currently working on a new DEX for Sei they say will change the game.

Sei Ecosystem Meme Coins

Similar to what we’ve seen happen on Solana, the Sei ecosystem already has a bustling meme coin market.  Like Solana, the lighting fast transaction finalization speed and low fees make Sei primed to support a robust shit coin trading experience.  The best places to find new SEI meme coins are on Coinhall.org and DexScreener.

Colors is the first CW404 collection in the Sei ecosystem.   $COLOR is the project token and Colors Of Sei are the NFTs.  CW404 on Sei is a groundbreaking crypto standard first created on Ethereum where participants can own fractionalized percentages of NFTs as well as their underlying CW404 token.  You can trade “Colors” as an NFT (if you have 10,000 or more $COLOR) on Pallet Exchange AND as a token at the same time on Astroport which is the top Cosmos ecosystem DEX.

@SeiNetwork on 2/21/2024 – Due to a major governance vote, Gas on the Sei blockchain is now 80% less than just one week ago.2/22/2024 – @SeiNetwork announced on X that they are developing EIP-7611.  It’s a new EIP which creates an open token standard for underlying NFT liquidity across the ETH ecosystem.  The Sei team is developing EIP-7611 in conjunction with Omni Network which is focuses on interoperability for Ethereum.

3/4/2024 – @SeiNetwork announced that native / canonical USDC and USDT Stablecoins are now live on Sei.  It’s a big deal to have native USDC and Tether now native in the Sei ecosystem and it will likely bring a great deal of new liquidity to the network.  Astroport is the top Dex for Sei and users can now enter USDC – SEI liquidity pools.  Also, users can swap other Sei meme coins such as SEIYAN and MILLI for USDC and/or USDT.

3/13/2024 – Compass In-Wallet Swaps are live! You can now swap Sei native and bridged tokens inside of the Compass Wallet.  This is a big step in advancing DeFi on Sei as it reduces the friction of using a decentralized exchange like Astroport.  Finally, there potentially could be a Compass Wallet token airdrop in the future and using their in-wallet swaps would most likely qualify users.
