NFTs Ensure Ownership and Authenticity of Digital Art
The Alive111 collection on Sei is an example of beautiful digital art made possible with NFT technology. I purchased this specific Alive1111 NFT #957 on Pallet Exchange and it’s one of my favorites. The digital art space has been forever changed with the integration of blockchain technology. NFTs provide artists new ways to monetize their work via mints and royalties on secondary sales. Digital art collectors can prove ownership, provenance, and authenticity thanks to NFTs.
For example, one of my favorite NFT art collections is Alive1111 which is on the Sei blockchain. It minted out fast but I was able to purchase non-fungible token A1 #957 (Shown in picture above) on Pallet Exchange which is a secondary marketplace for Sei NFTs. The Alive1111 artist (Simply.sei @simplysundaye) received a royalty and I gained verifiable ownership of the digital art NFT.
NFTs create sustainable income models that can reward artists long after the initial sale. In addition to Simply.sei, some of my favorite digital artists with notable collections include Jack Butcher (Checks and Opepen Edition), Refik Anadol (Winds of Yawanawa), and Erick Calderon (Snowfro Chromie Squiggle).
NFTs Give Players Ownership of Their In-Game Assets
One of the most bullish use cases for NFTs is in gaming. Traditional Web2 games like Fortnite and Roblox sell in-game items that enhance the players experience. Skins and weapons are purchased to upgrade player profiles and skill levels. However, players have no way of actually owning their assets in these traditional games. They willingly pay for in-game items but they don’t have the ability to trade them for monetary profit. That changes however with the integration of Web3 blockchain technology, specifically NFTs.
With the use of NFTs, players can trade their in-game assets on various marketplaces like OpenSea and Magic Eden. This adds a new layer of engagement, making games more interactive and financially rewarding. The integration of NFTs also greatly benefits the gaming companies as they can earn royalties every time assets are traded.

The risk of fostering a pay-to-win culture, where players can gain unfair advantages depending on how much money they have is a potential negative side-effect. Despite the challenges that go along with new ideas, the potential for NFTs in gaming is huge. Giving players the ability to truly own and trade their in-game assets is a paradigm shift now but will seem obvious in the future.
NFTs will Revolutionize the Music Industry
NFTs are disrupting the music industry giving freedom back to the musicians. No longer are they beholden to record label companies. The integration of NFT technology into the music industry allows artist to finally control 100% ownership of their work and get paid fair market value.
Musicians are tokenizing their songs and tickets which results in royalty revenue when fans trade them on secondary markets. Smart contracts embedded in non-fungible tokens automate royalty distribution. This enhances revenue for the musicians and also fosters a stronger relationship between artists and their fans.
Fans can now invest in their favorite artists and make money as their popularity builds. It’s the ultimate win-win for musicians and fans. NFT marketplaces like AirNFTs offer fans exclusive ownership experiences, including access to unreleased tracks, concert tickets, and special content. This unique blend of emotional and financial investment is transforming the way people engage with music, making the industry more inclusive and innovative.
NFTs and the Metaverse Virtual Real Estate Boom
The concept of virtual real estate in the metaverse is gaining traction and is projected to explode in the coming years. If that happens, the demand for virtual land will skyrocket as a result. NFTs play a crucial role verifying on-chain ownership of virtual real estate.
We’ve seen metaverses emerge on just about all the blockchains. For example, Decentraland and The Sandbox on Ethereum flashed major potential during the 2021 crypto bull run. Likewise, Bitmap on Bitcoin looks like it could be a major metaverse player on the worlds largest and most decentralized proof-of-work blockchain. During the Bitcoin Ordinals run in 2023, we were seeing huge Bitmap sales volume and low inscription numbers selling at a premium.
A wide range of industries, including fashion and finance, are also entering the metaverse. This trend not only diversifies the use of NFTs but also underscores the limitless possibilities of virtual real estate, from opening virtual venues to building houses and charging rent. It’s mind-blowing to think how big the use cases for NFTs in metaverses on all chains will be in 5 to 10 years.
Fashion Brands Embrace The Use of NFTs
The fashion industry is quickly adopting NFTs, leveraging smart contracts to create digital merch and wearables. Web3 users can now express their unique personalities and status in the metaverse with wearable digital assets. The merge of fashion and blockchain technology is enhancing engagement and forming strong Web3 communities.
Fashion brands are utilizing NFTs to host high profile events which showcase their collections and offer unique experiences for attendees. The ability to link physical goods with NFTs further enhances the consumer experience ensuring authenticity and ownership.
Fashion brands incorporating NFTs are opening new revenue streams and marketing opportunities. Embracing NFTs helps fashion companies stay ahead of the curve and tap into the growing market of digital collectibles and virtual wearables.
Use of NFTs is Transforming Supply Chain Management
NFTs are disrupting traditional supply chain management by significantly improving transparency, efficiency, traceability, and risk mitigation. They enable customers to trace products back to their origins, ensuring that stakeholders are informed throughout the supply chain. This level of transparency is crucial for verifying the authenticity of products and maintaining trust between manufacturers and consumers.
Commercial fishing is a good example of an industry that’s embraced the use of NFTs in their supply chain management. A growing number of restaurants around the world make available where and when the Red Snapper or Grouper on their menu was caught thanks to the use of NFTs in commercial fishing supply chain management. Patrons of these restaurants appreciate the transparency as they can be confident in the freshness and quality of the fish on their plate!
Digital Identity Verification and NFTs
NFTs are emerging as a powerful tool for digital identity verification. The use of NFTs can help provide unique and verifiable representations of people’s digital ID which enhances online authenticity. It also offers better control of data, significantly reducing the risk of identity theft. With the use of NFTs, users can manage who accesses their personal information which greatly enhances privacy.
One of the key benefits of NFT-based identities is their potential for cross-platform usability, simplifying login processes across different services. NFTs can also serve as “digital keys”, controlling access to specific resources or services and adding an extra layer of security through multi-factor authentication. This versatility makes NFTs an ideal solution for managing IDs in various sectors, from healthcare to education.
In healthcare, NFTs can manage access to personal medical records, balancing privacy with efficient information sharing. Colleges can issue NFTs to students, granting access to exclusive resources tied to their identity. These applications demonstrate the broad potential of NFTs to streamline identity verification and enhance security in the digital world.
Fractional Ownership in Real Estate via Use of NFTs
NFTs are democratizing real estate investing through fractional ownership, allowing multiple investors to share ownership of properties and facilitating the ability to transfer ownership. This approach enhances portfolio diversification by enabling investors to own shares in multiple properties with lower capital investment. The use of smart contracts ensures reliable distribution of investment shares, automating the process and providing transparency.
Fractional NFTs lower the financial barriers to entry, making real estate investment accessible to a broader audience. This not only opens up new opportunities for individual investors but also revitalizes the real estate market by attracting diverse investment sources.
Parcl is a first mover in the NFT fractal real-estate space. First launched as an NFT project on Solana, Parcl has evolved into a full blow real-estate markets trading platform. Users can connect their Phantom wallets to the Parcl App and speculate on real estate prices in big US cities like Miami, New York, Austin, Boston, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and more!
Leveraging NFTs, the real-estate industry is poised for a significant transformation, making property ownership more inclusive and efficient.
NFTs are Enhancing DeFi
NFTs are playing a crucial role in DeFi by introducing new financial instruments. For example, NFT use can be as collateral for loans, allowing borrowers to secure customized terms that suit their needs. Smart contracts facilitate seamless transfer of ownership upon default on the loans, making debt management more efficient.
Liquidium is a good example of a Bitcoin native DeFi lending protocol where users can borrow or lend $BTC using Ordinals (NFTs on Bitcoin) as collateral. Users that lend out Bitcoin earn yield on the loan. If the borrower defaults on the loan (fails to pay the $BTC back with interest in the agreed upon timeframe), the Ordinals that were used at collateral are automatically transferred to the lenders Xverse wallet.
Liquidium is a DeFi platform enabling peer-to-peer Bitcoin lending. Borrow or lend Bitcoin, using Ordinal Inscriptions (Ordinals) as collateral. The transparent nature of blockchain technology ensures that all transactions within DeFi are recorded, enhancing trust and accountability. NFTs can also provide non-transferable voting rights, improving governance within DeFi platforms. Users can stake their NFTs in liquidity pools, earning rewards while maintaining ownership of their tokens.
These innovations are expanding the capabilities of DeFi, making it more accessible and versatile. Integrating NFTs allows DeFi platforms to offer a wider range of financial services, attracting more users and driving the growth of the decentralized finance ecosystem.
A Growing Number NFT Use Cases will Emerge Going Forward
As we have explored, NFTs are driving innovation across various industries, from digital art and gaming to supply chain management and DeFi. Each use case demonstrates the transformative potential of NFTs, creating new opportunities and disrupting traditional business practices. The versatility and impact of NFTs will only continue to grow, opening up new frontiers and inspiring future innovations.
