Beginners Guide to Meme Coins on Sui with Phantom Wallet

Phantom Wallet recently integrated Sui Network, giving its 15 million active monthly users easy access to the ecosystem’s meme coins. This guide walks you through the entire process of setting up Phantom Wallet and trading Sui ecosystem tokens, including meme coins, AI agents, and utility tokens.

Step 1: Install Phantom Wallet on Desktop and Mobile

If you don’t already have Phantom Wallet installed, here’s how to set it up:

1. Visit the Phantom wallet website and click “Download”
2. Select your platform (desktop or mobile)
3. For Chrome users, click “Add to Chrome” and then “Add Extension”
4. Pin the extension to your browser for easy access
5. Create a new wallet by selecting “Create a seed phrase wallet”
6. Set a password and continue
7. Save your recovery phrase securely (write it down on paper and store multiple copies in different locations)
8. Complete the setup process

Step 2: Enable Sui in Phantom Wallet

Once your Phantom wallet is set up:

1. Open your wallet and you should see a pop-up saying “Sui on Phantom” – click “Enable Sui”

If you don’t see the prompt to enable Sui in Phantom, or if you have an existing wallet:

1. Go to your wallet settings
2. Navigate to “Active Networks”
3. Find “Sui Beta” and toggle it on

Step 3: Fund Your Phantom Wallet with $SUI

Before trading, you’ll need some $SUI tokens in your wallet:

1. In Phantom, select “Sui” and click “Receive”
2. Copy your Phantom wallet Sui Receive Address
3. Send $SUI from Coinbase or from another wallet to your Phantom wallet Sui Receive address
4. Transactions on Sui are extremely fast and gas is very inexpensive
5. Once complete, your $SUI balance will appear in Phantom wallet

Step 4: Research Sui Ecosystem Tokens on Dex Screener

Before buying any Sui meme coins, do your research using Dex Screener:

1. Go to DEX Screener and click on “Sui”
2. This displays all tokens within the Sui ecosystem, including meme coins, utility tokens like DeepBook or SuiNS, and AI projects
3. Choose a token you’re interested in (this Sui guide uses $LOFI memecoin as an example)
4. Copy the contract address of your chosen token ($LOFI) from DEX Screener

Step 5: Connect Phantom Wallet to a Sui DEX or Aggregator

In the Sui ecosystem, you’ll find a bunch of great options to trade on-chain.  Here’s a list of my favorite places to swap Sui tokens:

Once you’ve selected a Sui DEX, you’ll go ahead and connect your Phantom wallet that has some $SUI in it.  We’ll use 7K Aggregator in this example because they’re rumored to have an airdrop coming and we want to earn “Drops” rewards for making swaps.

1. Visit the 7K aggregator and click “Connect Wallet” and select Phantom
2. Approve the connection request

Step 6: Buy Sui Meme Coins by Swapping $SUI

Now you’re ready to buy Sui ecosystem tokens:

1. Paste the contract address (copied from DEX Screener) in the search bar
2. Select the token when it appears ($LOFI in this example)
3. Enter the amount of  $SUI or $USDC you want to swap for $LOFI
4. Review the transaction details (note how low the network fees are on Sui)
5. Click “Confirm” to complete the transaction
6. Your new $LOFI tokens will appear in your Phantom wallet

Note: You can also swap Sui ecosystem tokens in Phantom wallet.  For faster trades, consider using Sui Sniper Bot and/or RaidenX.

Step 7: Selling Sui Meme Coins

To sell Sui meme coins or utility tokens, simply reverse the process on your favorite decentralized exchange:

1. Select the token you want to sell
2. Enter the amount (or click “Max” to sell all)
3. Click “Swap” to convert back to $SUI or $USDC stablecoin
