Guide to Creating an Xverse Bitcoin Web3 Wallet Step-by-Step
Xverse is a user-friendly self-custody Web3 wallet for Bitcoin and we’ll show you how to create one in this tutorial. The growth in popularity of Bitcoin Ordinals and Runes tokens has increase the demand for advance Bitcoin wallet capabilities. Xverse has stepped in to service that need and their Web3 wallet is available on mobile (iOS & Android) and desktop. We’ll show you how to install and create a new Xverse Bitcoin wallet on desktop via the Chrome extension so let’s get started!
Install and Configure a New Xverse Bitcoin Wallet via the Chrome extension…
Step 1: Go to the Xverse website and click the “Download” button located at the top-right of the screen… xverse.app

Step 2: Let’s go ahead and install Xverse wallet on desktop via their Chrome Browser Extension. To do that, click on “Download for Chrome” > Add to Chrome > Add extension > you’ll see a “Xverse Wallet has been added to Chrome” success message.
Step 3: Now that the wallet has been added to your Chrome extensions, the next step is to complete the initial set-up. To do that, click on extensions > Xverse Wallet > click “Create Wallet” > you’ll see the following message, “All your Bitcoin, Stacks assets and NFTs in one place” click Next > you’ll see the following message, ” Stack your STX to earn rewards in Bitcoin” click Next > you’ll see the following message, “Access your favorite Dapps from your wallet” click Continue > you’ll see the Legal info, read that then continue.
Step 4: Backing up Xverse is the most important piece in the process of creating a new self-custody wallet for Bitcoin. Your seed phrase is the unique key that allows you to recover your wallet. Remember, in Web3 there is no “forgot password”. To do that, click “Backup Now” > Write down your seed phrase and make sure to always keep it private. It’s up to the individual user to understand the responsibility that’s included with a self-custody wallet. I recommend making multiple physical copies of it and storing them in different locations. Also, please do not store your seed phrase digitally in the cloud as that can be hacked. Write it down and/or print it out from Notepad.
Step 5: After writing down your seed phrase click Continue > you’ll go through a series of steps where you’ll confirm it.
Step 6: Once your seed phrase is confirmed, you’ll get to the “Enter a password to protect your wallet” section. Go ahead and create a strong password, write it down, and store in multiple locations. You’ll get a message that says, “Wallet created successfully you can now connect to your wallet”. Click “Close this tab”.
Step 7: Click on extensions at the top-right of your screen > click Xverse Wallet > enter your Password > click Unlock and you’re logged-in to your new Xverse wallet for Bitcoin!
Store Hand-Written Copies of your Xverse Wallet Seed Phrase in Multiple Locations
A Web3 Xverse wallet allows you to take full ownership of your Bitcoin and digital assets. You’re the only one with access to the seed phrase which is fantastic but also means you need to make sure it’s backed up. If you were to every lose your seed phrase, you would lose access to all your Bitcoin Ordinals, Runes, Stacks and other digital assets in the wallet.
