Easy Kaspa Crypto Dollar Cost Average Self-Custody Step-by-Step Guide
The starting point of this tutorial assumes you already have a MEXC account and you’ve purchased some Kaspa on their Spot market. Before going further, it’s important that you understand the difference between Spot markets and Perpetual futures. Spot is buying crypto without using leverage which is 100% what I recommend and do myself. Perpetual uses leverage and is not recommended for this strategy or really at all when first starting in crypto as you can get wiped out. Buy your $KAS via Spot for the purpose of this tutorial and as a best practice. Now let’s assume you’ve created a MEXC account, have bought some spot $KAS (buy on red days not on green) , and are ready to pull it off the centralized exchange to your self-custodial wallet. The first step is to get yourself a Kaspa Web Wallet here: Kaspa.org
Scroll down to the “Get The Latest Wallets” section and you’ll see the link to “KASPA WEB/MOBILE WALLET“. Go ahead and create your Kaspa wallet. The process of setting up a Kaspa Web Wallet is similar to any other Web3 wallet like Phantom or Metamask. The most important thing is to write down your seed phrase / recovery seed and store multiple copies in different locations. The nice thing about crypto is you have full-control of your assets, but that also means you have to take full responsibility.
You now have a Kaspa Web Wallet and are ready to receive $KAS from MEXC. In your Kaspa wallet copy your “Receive Address” and paste it in Notepad.
Next, go back to your MEXC account where you purchased the $KAS. At the top-right of the screen you’ll see Wallets > Spot > click on Spot and you’ll see your Kaspa under “Assets List” > click Withdraw.
“Select Crypto” which will be KAS and in the “Withdraw To” field paste your Kaspa Web Wallet “Receive Address” you copied earlier. Make sure Kaspa is selected as the Network and scroll down to the “Withdraw Amount” section. MEXC requires users to withdraw a minimum of 60 $KAS and I recommend starting with that number for your first withdraw. Anytime you’re sending crypto from a centralized exchange to your web3 wallet, it’s always a good idea to start with a small test transaction just to make sure you have the process down. Start small, go slow is the way to avoid major issues in crypto. Please note, MEXC will take a “withdraw fee” and at the time of this tutorial it is 10 $KAS. I’m ok with paying the fee in exchange for the ability to take full-ownership of my Kaspa assets. Verify the information you entered is correct and click the Submit button.
Next, you’ll be taken to the “Security Verification” section. MEXC will send a verification code to the email address associated with your account. In addition, they’ll send an SMS verification code to the phone number tied to your MEXC account. Once you’ve entered both verification codes, click the “Submit” button.
Next, it will show that the Withdrawal request was submitted and you’ll see a summary of the transaction. Click the “Track Status” button to monitor your MEXC Kaspa withdrawal.
The KAS withdrawal process from MEXC typically only takes a few minutes. In the “Transaction History” section of your MEXC account is where you’ll verify that your Kaspa withdrawal was successful.
The last step is to open your Kaspa wallet and verify that you did indeed receive the $KAS. It will show in your Available balance and you now have full ownership of your KAS crypto coins. Until Kaspa is listed on major exchanges like Coinbase, this is an easy way to accumulate and dollar cost average.
